A controlled restoration of industrial steel roller shutter doors in the West Midlands, improving their appearance and preparing the metal for continued service. Rather than relying on unnecessarily aggressive blasting, the surface was treated progressively to lift rust, embedded contamination and failing residue while respecting the underlying steel.

What was needed
Assess the shutter curtain and associated steel surfaces, protect adjacent areas, then use a carefully selected abrasive process and working pressure to remove corrosion and contamination without overworking the metal. Finish with a consistent, clean surface suitable for the client’s next protective coating or finishing system.
