Steel gates, railings and boundary metalwork
We review the asset’s condition and the coatings, repair or protection planned afterwards before confirming the right preparation route.
Commercial metal preparation
We assess the metal, existing coating, access and next coating stage before recommending a shot-blasting approach. The aim is a clean, practical substrate for the next agreed trade or finish — not a one-size-fits-all process.
Suitable metalwork
Suitability depends on the asset, the surrounding environment and what needs to happen after preparation. We do not promise a particular profile or standard until those details have been reviewed.

Before mobilisation
Good preparation starts with the right information. These details help us understand whether a contained on-site process, off-site preparation or a different method should be considered.

We will review the information, ask for anything material that is missing, and explain the next sensible step for your project. A site visit or test area may still be needed before a method is agreed.
Shot blasting FAQ
Shot blasting can remove failed coatings, rust and surface contamination from suitable metalwork so the condition can be assessed and the next coating or repair stage has a cleaner starting point.
No. The metal type, thickness, existing finish, nearby components and required outcome all matter. Aluminium, delicate fabricated parts and assets with vulnerable seals or bearings need specific assessment before any method is recommended.
Bare steel can begin to oxidise quickly in damp conditions. The handover plan should therefore state the clean-down, protection and next coating stage before preparation begins.
A required profile or preparation standard must be agreed against the actual substrate, coating system and project specification. We do not assume a standard from a photograph alone.
We provide on-site abrasive preparation for structural steel, gates, railings, cladding, plant equipment, industrial floors and architectural metalwork across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
