Sensitive façade restoration for the Brierley Hill Technical Institute and Free Library, a Grade II listed building. The masonry was carefully refreshed with very low-pressure surface cleaning to lift paint residue and staining while respecting the historic brick and stonework. The result is a clearer, more legible elevation with the building’s period character retained.

How the surface was prepared.
The team assessed the listed masonry, protected adjacent areas and used a controlled, very low-pressure blasting approach suited to heritage surfaces. Paint deposits and ingrained staining were removed from the brick and stone façade in measured passes, with pressure and media adjusted to avoid unnecessary abrasion. The cleaned elevations were then checked for an even, sympathetic finish and the historic detailing was left ready for any subsequent conservation work.
