Oak beams
A series of dark-finished cottage oak beams was refreshed to reveal a lighter, more balanced timber appearance without losing the character of the original joinery. Gentle, controlled surface cleaning helped the rooms feel brighter and more contemporary, leaving the beams ready for the next stage of refurbishment and finishing.

What was needed
Careful preparation and low-impact abrasive cleaning of the exposed cottage beams across the featured rooms. The work focused on lifting the heavy black coating and surface grime while respecting the timber profile, edges and existing character, followed by a consistent clean-down ready for the client’s chosen finish.
